Terms and Conditions

These terms are between you and PAPERSAFEAI LABS PRIVATE LIMITED, the legal business operating PaperSafeAI, and govern your use of the PaperSafeAI desktop and mobile applications and this website. By downloading, installing, or using PaperSafeAI, you agree to these terms.

1. The software

PaperSafeAI grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use the PaperSafeAI desktop and mobile applications on devices you own or control, for as long as you comply with these terms. PaperSafeAI is under active development — features, pricing, and plan limits described on this website may change between releases.

2. Plans and billing

Our order process for Paddle purchases is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com, the Merchant of Record. Paddle handles payment-related customer service and refunds. Product support is available from support@papersafeai.com.

The price, currency, billing interval, and applicable taxes are shown before you purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled before the next renewal. You can manage or cancel your subscription through Paddle’s subscription-management link or buyer support.

Purchases are generally non-refundable, except where required by law or approved by Paddle under its applicable terms. As our Refund Policy explains, cancelling a subscription stops future renewals and normally does not refund the current billing period. Unless refunded or otherwise ended under the applicable terms, paid access continues until that period ends.

Paddle purchases are also subject to Paddle’s Buyer Terms and Refund Policy. Applicable statutory rights remain unaffected.

Founder Lifetime purchases

What you buy. If your checkout identifies the purchase as Founder Lifetime, you receive a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the local desktop Pro features included in your eligible PaperSafeAI versions, subject to the Pro device allowance. This is a one-time purchase with no automatic renewal. You own your vault content, not the software.

Included updates. Your purchase includes compatible desktop releases first published during the 12 months after your payment is completed, including major releases published in that period. Your purchase confirmation and licence portal show the exact update end date. After that date, you may keep using your newest eligible version without paying again. The end of the update period does not cancel your licence, downgrade it because maintenance ended, or delete your vault.

Optional later updates. When we offer Founder update extensions, another 12 months of updates is a separate, optional one-time purchase at 50% off the standard one-year update price then in effect. This is not a fixed future amount or 50% off a new Lifetime licence. The standard price, discount, final amount and taxes are shown before payment. Extensions do not renew automatically. Under the current offer, an extension becomes available after your included update period ends and a newer release is available; its 12 months begin on the extension purchase date.

Support and product lifetime. Ordinary product support is provided during the included update period while PaperSafeAI and its operator continue to support the product. After that, while the product and company operate, support is limited to licence and activation issues, access to eligible downloads, billing and refund requests, and security reports. If PaperSafeAI is discontinued or the company ceases operations, future updates and support may end. Discontinuation does not itself revoke a valid Founder licence or require another payment. We will give reasonable advance notice where practicable. Eligible installers will remain available for at least five years after the final Founder sale while our download service operates. We do not guarantee that an older version will work with future operating systems, hardware or third-party services.

What is excluded. Founder Lifetime does not include paid cloud AI reading, cloud storage, third-party services or separately priced future products unless checkout expressly includes them. Your eligible local version remains subject to the 14-day online licence-check rule while our licence service operates. An overdue check temporarily pauses paid Pro features but does not delete your vault. “Lifetime” refers to continuing use of eligible versions, not support for the purchaser's lifetime or a guarantee that the product or company will operate forever.

Our Refund Policy and Paddle Buyer Terms apply, subject to rights that cannot lawfully be excluded. Fraud, payment reversal, unauthorised licence sharing or resale, and bypassing device limits may lead to action under these terms. This Founder offer does not reduce the all-future-updates entitlement previously promised to ordinary Lifetime buyers.

App Store and Google Play purchases

Pro bought in the PaperSafeAI mobile app is sold, billed, renewed and refunded by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play), not by Paddle. The price and the billing period are shown by the store before you confirm. Monthly and Yearly subscriptions renew automatically, and the store charges your store account, until you cancel. You can manage or cancel them at any time in your App Store or Google Play account’s subscription settings, which the app opens from Plan & devices → Manage subscription; paid access continues until the end of the current period. Lifetime is a one-time purchase and does not renew.

Refunds for store purchases are requested from and decided by Apple or Google under their own policies (see our Refund Policy); the Paddle refund terms above do not apply to them. A purchase in either store gives you the same PaperSafeAI licence as a Paddle purchase, for the devices that licence allows.

If you got the iOS app from the App Store, Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies to your use of it.

Licence checks and offline use

Every device using a paid Pro licence must complete a successful licence check with our licence service at least once every 14 days. PaperSafeAI checks automatically when it starts, when you return to it and while it is open; you do not need to do anything, and opening the app or having internet access alone does not count as a check. Pro works offline for up to 14 days after each successful check.

If a check is overdue, the device uses the free plan until a check succeeds: Pro features pause, but your vault is not locked or deleted, and you can still unlock, read, export and manage your documents and your licence. Pro returns automatically after the next successful check, without re-entering your key, as long as the licence is still active and the device still holds one of its places. A device removed from your licence loses Pro at its next check, or at the latest when its 14 days run out.

This applies to every paid plan, including Lifetime and Founder Lifetime purchases made in our checkout, the App Store or Google Play: Lifetime means no recurring payment, not that licence checks can be skipped. The 14-day Pro trial is not affected; it ends on its own fixed date.

3. Your account and your vault

Your PaperSafeAI vault is protected by a master password (and, if you enable it, biometric or PIN unlock) and encrypted on your device. Because your vault is encrypted locally, we have no way to see your master password. The recovery key can reset a forgotten master password; if you lose both the master password and recovery key, we cannot decrypt the vault for you. You are responsible for keeping the recovery key and encrypted backups safe.

4. Your content

You retain all ownership rights to the documents, Vault Items, and other content you store in PaperSafeAI. Vault Items may include sensitive records such as passwords, PINs, cards, identity numbers, secure notes, API keys, and Wi-Fi credentials. We do not claim any ownership over your content, and — as described in our Privacy Policy — we do not have access to them in the first place, since they're processed and stored locally on your devices. The one exception is Cloud reading on the phone, if you turn it on: images of a document's first pages are sent to our service to be read, and are not kept (section 6).

You're responsible for making sure you have the right to store and process any document or Vault Item you keep in PaperSafeAI, and for complying with any laws that apply to the records you keep (for example, financial or medical records). You are also responsible for the accuracy, legality, and safekeeping of the Vault Items you store.

PaperSafeAI includes Vault Items for storing private records, but it may not provide every feature of dedicated password managers, such as browser autofill, breach monitoring, emergency access, or enterprise sharing. Do not store sensitive information unless you understand that it is protected by your local vault password and your own local backup choices.

5. Third-party integrations

If you connect an optional integration such as Google Drive, your use of that service is also governed by that provider's own terms of service and privacy policy. We are not responsible for the availability or behavior of third-party services you choose to connect.

6. Cloud reading

Cloud reading is an optional feature of the PaperSafeAI phone app, off until you turn it on. When it is on, images of the first pages of documents you add on the phone are sent to our cloud service, where an AI model reads details such as dates, names and numbers. How it handles your data is described in section 5 of our Privacy Policy.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

PaperSafeAI is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the software will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that document processing (including OCR, metadata extraction, Cloud reading, or expiry-date detection) will be perfectly accurate. We also do not warrant that Vault Items will replace a dedicated password manager for every use case. Always verify important dates, details, and records yourself.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, PaperSafeAI and its team will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or business, arising from your use of, or inability to use, the software — including data loss resulting from a forgotten master password, a corrupted local database, or a skipped backup. We strongly recommend keeping regular backups of any vault containing important documents or Vault Items.

10. Termination

You may stop using PaperSafeAI at any time by uninstalling the app. We may suspend or terminate your access to paid features if you violate these terms or fail to pay applicable subscription fees, though your locally stored vault, documents, and Vault Items remain yours and on your device regardless.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, note the change in the app's release notes. Continuing to use PaperSafeAI after an update means you accept the revised terms.

13. Governing law

PaperSafeAI is operated by PAPERSAFEAI LABS PRIVATE LIMITED. These terms are governed by the laws of India, and any disputes arising from these terms will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of India.
